Funk Sessions DJ collective announce playlist for seventh show.
'The Funk Sessions' have submitted their playlists for their seventh show featuring Yushka, Tesh, Soul Jazz Funksters, and Project Magic. Scientific Sound radio is an underground station for the Asian region and internationally.
Since 2019 the Funk Sessions crew have been igniting dance floors across Ho Chi Minh City with their unique party vibes dedicated to all things funky. This DJ and party crew bring you the funkiest beats around, from funk classics & old-skool hip hop, to disco, party breaks, ghetto funk and more.
A group of international DJs from Australia and UK, based primarily in Vietnam, on a mission to add a little spice to the dance music scene. With a vast back catalogue of experiences behind them, including club nights, free parties and festivals and having supported many heavyweights of the underground music world.
The style of music they play is heavily influenced by the pioneers of breakbeat. It’s particularly obvious in the Hip Hop, Funky Breaks and Ghetto Funk they play, but it's influence actually runs a lot deeper and to some extent can be heard throughout all of their mixes.
Funk Sessions have regular events in Ho Chi Minh City at Broma (not a bar), TNR (your favourite dive bar), Indika and Apt852. Other venues past and present include, Secret weekend, Tempo, Arcan, Haus, Banana Mama, Piu Piu, Sky 9, Rogue Saigon, Soma and Saigon Outcast.
Funk Dem Beats is a regular club event in Ho Chi Minh City, based mainly at the infamous TNR (everyones favourite dive bar). The night incorporates live musicians and DJs in to a rapidly evolving jam session, that packs a multitude of genres in to one action packed night. This week we have a selection of Funk Soul, Hip hop and breaks, put together by a trio of Funk Dem Beats DJs.
Tesh kicks things off with a collection of his own productions. Bass heavy melodic beats, with some real kick. From the Garage infused; All Spooky Wants For Christmas, to; the Funk influenced ATLiens, this is a nice little taste of Tesh’s awesome beats.
Project Magic hits us with his very own Hip Hop beats. Kick back tune He’s A Monster will have you tapping your feet and swaying, whilst the more uptempo Electro Jazz styled Holed Up, has a D&B vibe that will get anyone stomping. Beautiful music, expertly crafted.
Soul Jazz Funksters is up next. A brilliantly engineered mix with awesome soul-bombs, funky rhythms and knockout covers. Funky soulful music from across generations. This mix is off the hook. Funk, Soul, Jazz and breaks that all pack a punch.
Yushka ends this weeks show with a cheeky little mash up, Funk, Breaks and big-beat all feature in mix that takes you from a mellow chill to hands in the air stomping.
