DJ Flakes

DJ Flakes (UK / BASS TARD / BEATS BARS N BREAKS / SERIAL RIDDIMS) has been instrumental in the growth of the Hanoi underground scene over the past few years, bringing more original, alternative and underground styles to the city that were initially unheard of on the scene.

Starting with the original Vibration festival in 2014, and more recently bringing heavyweight artists such as Jam Baxter, Dabbla, Chemo, Steppa Style, Joe Nice and Hadean to Vietnam for a number of shows and video shoots, Flakes has a passion for pushing underground music, whether it’s as a promoter or from behind the decks.

Flakes’ styles include Hip Hop, Funk, Soul, Disco, Reggae, Dub, Dancehall, Grime, Garage, Bassline, 140, Jungle, Drum & Bass, Breaks, Latin, Cumbia and everything in between.

He has played all over Vietnam, from sold out shows at Cargo Saigon, to Vibenation beach festival, to headlining Quest Festival 2017 with UK Hip Hop / Grime giants Dead Players. Flakes can be found most weekends rocking parties in and around Hanoi and the northern mountains. He has also toured Thailand playing in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Pai with his crew BASS TARD.
